Title

Telegram from Republican Presidential candidate Ronald Reagan to John F. Homeier

Description

Republican Presidential Candidate Ronald Reagan implores John F. Homeier of Springfield, Illinois to come to Reagan's and Nancy Reagan’s home, “Wexford”, near Washington DC, on October 25, 1980 to discuss the critical financial status of their political party in key electoral states. Homeier is advised that Reagan will telephone him within days to discuss the details of Homeier’s impending visit to Wexford. The campaign contribution obtained from Homeier, CEO of Bi-Petro, as a result of the Wexford visit would be cited by Reagan in a follow-up letter to Homeier a month later as a decisive factor in his and running mate George Bush’s election victory. Co-contributor Skip Homeier is John F. Homeier’s son.
