Study Quran

This Quran has been translated into English for young Islamic students who are not fluent in Arabic.  This Quran was gifted to Farris Bukhari when he was a boy. Eventually he learned to read the Quran in it's original Arabic, but this book was essential to his religious education. Farris is first generation American and his family hails from Pakistan.

Though religion is not taught in American Schools the impact of it is known in American history.  The Quran and Islam play a larger role in American history than is shown in our practices and lessons.  Islam was brought to America by the enslaved people of Africa and has been a part of our country for hundreds of years.  In the 1700s an English translated of the Quran became a best seller in the American colonies and Thomas Jefferson owned a copy.  In early 2019 it received much attention when one of two Muslum women elected to congress, Rashida Tlaib announced she would use it during her swearing in ceremony (she later decided to use her own).  This was not the first time one was used in a congressional swearing in ceremony: Keith Ellison did so in 2007 with a centuries old copy.
