Alto Saxophones:

The Alto Saxophone was created in the 1840’s, by Adolphe Sax, and are a member of the woodwinds family of instruments. The Alto Saxophone is most commonly found in the marching bands, jazz bands, chamber music, and military bands. The key structure of an Alto Saxophone is no different from any other Saxophone, but the sounds is different. Notable players of the Alto Saxophone are Marcel Mule, Larry Teal, and Claude Delangle. To hear the sounds of the Alto Saxophone you can listen for the four-bar introduction of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” The smooth sound of the Alto Saxophone makes it the perfect instrument for Jazz music, but is featured in many other styles of music as well.
