Flyer, Re-Elect J. Glenn Schneider Democratic State Representative to the General Assembly, 41st Congressional District, 1980

Black and white bi-fold flyer for Democratic incumbent, J. Glenn Schneider, of the 41st Congressional District for the November 2, 1980 election. The dexter obverse implores constituents to vote for ‘Leadership Change’ in each local, state, and national office (with Lawrence W. Harris as the other Democratic Representative to the 41st District), while the sinister features a black and white head-shot of Schneider on a black field. Beneath the tag of ‘State Representative Illinois General Assembly’, the State Seal of Illinois is depicted. The reverse dexter panel cites some of Schneider’s political awards, achievements, trades and unions endorsements, party endorsements, and Congressional committee appointments, and the bottom advises that a copy of his election committee’s reports can be obtained from the State Board of Elections. The sinister panel lists in all-caps those political topics Schneider considers ‘important’, such as education (Schneider had been a high school history and American Government teacher in Naperville, and was also named to President James Earl “Jimmy” Carter’s Intergovernmental Advisory Council on Education in July of the year), disclosure of campaign funds, the Equal Rights Amendment, and No Fault Insurance. The entire reverse is framed in a border of silver-gray. Contributor Mary Hudgins is a former legislative intern and graduate of Sangamon State University (now University of Illinois at Springfield) in Political Science. Originally from Naperville, she believes that the election items in her personal collection are rare, and wants to insure their preservation through digitization in the 2016 UIS History Harvest project.
