Flyer, Tri-color, Republican Candidate Brad Glass for Illinois State Treasurer, 1978

Campaign flyer for Illinois Republican Candidate for state treasurer Brad Glass. The small flyer is executed in Glass’ tricolor campaign color theme of white, black, and green. The campaign’s slogan, “Invest in Illinois”, appears beneath the banner declaration on the obverse; the reverse features a black and white family photo of Brad Glass, wife Barbara, and sons David, Charles, and George Glass; the accompanying text lists Glass’ Qualifications to run for office, his platform (giving only his campaign slogan), and a statement of commitment vowing that Glass will work closely with banks within the state to secure greater yield from state tax dollars in the form of loans to businesses which will create more jobs as an investment for Illinois’ future. Glass was defeated by fellow Republican candidate James M. “Jim” Skelton of downstate Champaign, who would in turn lose to Jerome A. “Jerry” Cosentino, who held the office 1979-1983 and 1987-1991. Contributor Mary Hudgins is a former legislative intern under Brad Glass. A graduate of Sangamon State University (now University of Illinois at Springfield) in Political Science, she is originally from Naperville. She believes that the election items in her personal collection are rare, and wants to insure their preservation through digitization in the 2016 UIS History Harvest project.
